Community Meetings to Discuss Your Wildfire Preparedness
Last year’s fire season started on February 13, and even though there’s snow on the ground now, we anticipate another summer of active wildfires to affect Stevens County.
Join your local Fire District Chiefs and neighbors to learn what action you can take now and in the future to protect your land, your community, and prepare for any emergency.
“After the events of this summer, these winter months are a good opportunity for everyone to take steps to prepare their homes and their selves, as much as possible, from future fires.” stated Stevens County Sheriff Kendle Allen. The Sheriff’s department will be present, joining the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), WSU Extension, Jim Caruso- Director of Stevens County Emergency Management, the Stevens County Conservation District, the Stevens County Board of County Commissioners and local Mayors.
We encourage Stevens County citizens to join other residents in making your home as safe as possible in the event of a fire and be prepared with an evacuation plan. “We want residents to be prepared before any emergency happens,” said Stevens County Emergency Management Director Jim Caruso. “The message is simple…being prepared can save your life and the lives of those you love.” So, Ready, Set, Go! , join with us and be a part of the wildland fire solution today! We look forward to seeing you at one of the Fire Adapted County meetings in your area.
